  • “Excellent architectural firm with a long history and experience of sustainable designs. Ian McKay guided us as a turnkey project all the way through from design, application through to completion in a conservation area. An excellent result with many sustainable features. Would definitely recommend this company.”

  • "We were having some problems caused by condensation in our flat in Cliffe. Ian did a two hour inspection/consultation and gave us a number of practical things to do, including recommendations for companies who can carry out the work. We have started to move forward with the first of Ian's recommendations"

  • "Ian from Deeper Green came to give us a 2 hour consultation on our 1860s property, to give some guidance on what we could do in terms of both technology and materials in order to make it work really efficiently as a building, but in a way that was environmentally responsible - this covered everything from what plaster to put on the walls to the tricky issue of ventilation in old properties, which i hadn't considered very much - incredibly useful, really really well informed, helpful and knowledgable - would highly recommend"New List Item

  • "We love the design of our house. It works well for our needs, is comfortable and has an attractive modern style both inside and out. Downstairs is mainly open plan but the large sliding wall panels mean we also have cosy quiet areas when needed. Unusual features, such as the curved walls in the kitchen and hall, wood panelled walls and ceilings, full height doors and different height ceilings, all make for an interesting home. The stand out feature is the eco construction. The house was built to passive house standards, although wasn’t registered, so is highly insulated with mechanical ventilation and triple glazed windows. The house maintains an almost constant temperature with low fuel bills. We’ve tidied up a one or two building issues but otherwise have made few changes since the original design and enjoy our very comfortable warm house."

  • Ian's work enabled us to get a good idea of what was possible and how much it would cost. His guidance enabled us to make the decisions on what would not work and what changes to make to existing systems such as the solar panels. He gave us good advice on which builders to consider and how to deal with the asbestos checks, planning department, building control. The excellence of the drawings and specifications gave our builder a very thorough design, little of which needed to be changed. He assisted us throughout the project to ensure that everything was up to standard. He stepped in and helped us when problems arose (e.g. leaks) which were outside the scope of the project but proved to be a critical part of the work because of the age/location of some parts of the house and defects in previous building work.
